Portrait of Grace

Our Father above
In showing His love
Rich surprises to us does send

For who would have guessed
In the midst of distress
You’d become such a cherished friend?

It was during the crash
I made such a splash
When I fell smack on my face

Yet you have become
But second to none
For me, a picture of grace.

You could have been mad
Instead you were sad
And filled with so much compassion

You didn’t rave
But truly forgave
Though it certainly isn’t in fashion!

I do thank the Lord
Whose love was outpoured
When He entered my growing disaster

As He chose to send
Such a fine friend
To again fill my life with laughter.

At the end of my rope
You gave so much hope
How glad I am that I found you

For you are the best
When it comes to a test
In the lives of others around you!

For beyond your own pain
You came ‘round again
Gave all kinds of comfort to aid me

Thank God for a friend
On whom I can depend
You are such a remarkable lady!
