Speak to Me, Father

Speak to me, Father, I want to know Your voice
So I can daily follow with each and every choice
May I set aside confusion, may my focus be on You
For only in this following will I learn what is true

Speak to me, Father, give grace daily to obey
To choose the paths before me in all my work and play
And as I learn to recognize Your voice from deep within
Show me when to venture forth and when to turn from sin.

Speak to me, Father, in those times when I’ve failed.
When I’ve gone my own way, full of self that prevailed
And then realized too late that the way that I went
Would cause great remorse and the need to repent.

Speak to me, Father, as I want to do my part
Draw me by Your presence into Your Father-heart.
May Your whispers and Your nudgings, may Your proddings be enough
To draw me from my selfishness and into godly stuff.

Speak to me, Father, that my heart would hear and learn
For the fullness of Your Presence is what I truly yearn.
For to walk with You in boldness, with confidence and laughter
Will be the blessed epitome, as Your will I follow after.
