Deliverance

I woke up quite slowly that Tuesday A.M.
The face on the clock showed that it was 5:10
So up, out of bed; I first let out the dog
Then back to my room to spend time with God.

For each morning He waits, for me by that chair
To listen, to speak, to comfort, to care
He is my Protector, my Father, my Friend
His love and His care I cannot comprehend.

And so while still basking in the glow of His power
To prepare for my day, I stepped into the shower.
And my mind began moving full-speed away
In review of what needed to happen that day.

Then without warning, the rubber mat slipped
And I felt myself falling, losing my grip.
Helpless I watched while my body was smashed
And twisted, as down on that hard tub I crashed!

There I lay in a heap, too stunned to move
And imagined the worst this disaster could prove.
With fear I then handled, tried to move every part
Of my body; for soon my workday should start.

Seemed things were intact, every part could be moved
Nothing was broken, just a little bit bruised
And though I crash-landed on my left elbow
There was definite trauma to my sensitive ego!

So I dragged myself out of that awkward position
And reviewed my amazing, yet humbling condition.
So grateful I am to the Father who calls
As He loves and protects through my stumbles and falls.
