On a long ago day
In a land far away
Holy vows were exchanged
And two lives re-arranged.
For worse or for better
God brought them together
In sickness and health
Through trouble and wealth
Our God, the All-Knowing
Each day keeps them going.
Their example does bless us
As we’re here to witness
A rare time in this life
Between a man and his wife.
Gentle strength on Peter’s face
Maria leaning on God’s grace
A union lived in one accord
Directed daily by the Lord
For your example teaches us
To trust in God without a fuss.
And while we think you both are swell
There’s one more thing we need to tell
These sixty years of wedded bliss
All started with a single kiss!
