Where God Draws the Line

My Jesus, He loves me. He calls me by name
My life, since believing, has not been the same.
Through valleys and mountains, He walks by my side
I’ve known peace and contentment with Him as my Guide.
I’ve learned when rejoicing, He smiles down on me
And when I am weeping, He’ll weep there with me.
In joys and in sorrows, He sees and does care
And lovingly shows that my burdens He’ll share.

There are times He does quietly walk by my side
Other times when we endlessly talk and confide.
So together we journey, my Jesus and me
Walking and talking in sweet company.

Still there are those times when things go awry.
While I ponder and struggle and wonder and sigh
Not once have I found will this Savior of mine
Join me in my wallow, deep worry, or whine.
Instead, He reminds me He sees and does know
The beginning, the end – and the way I should go.
Then He calls for my worry, ‘Give it up, let it cease.’
For He wants to absorb it and replace it with peace.

Yes, He’ll walk with me, even talk with me
Gladly joy with me, often weep with me
But worry with me? Not this Savior of mine.
For this is the place where He draws the line.
Yes, this is the place where on Him I must lean
And trust Him to carry my worries unseen.
Trust that He’s got this. Give up my control.
Then this is the place I’ll find rest for my soul.
