My heart has been heavy and burdened of late
For you my love, my precious mate
As I watch your physical problems increase
I find myself seeking yet more of God’s peace
And more time is spent as I pray and I read
And I ask God to meet you, at your point of need.
I fear for you Dave, and the days up ahead
For in thinking back to the day that we wed,
When we said our vows and tied the knot
I hadn’t given any thought
To losing you or being alone
Or trying to make it on my own.
I know God is sovereign and wise in His plans
For He holds our futures and times in His hands
When we place our lives within His control
His forgiveness, His freedom, His love makes us whole.
Still from bondage of overweight you long to be freed
I implore God to meet you at this point of need.
It is God who knew you way back in the womb
With plans for you to grow and bloom.
As He fills your life with grace and truth
How awesome for me, as the wife of your youth
To watch and to pray, to intercede
With God, to meet at your point of need!
Now twenty years later, praise God we’re still one
As we’ve grown in His likeness, we’ve had lots of fun
In living and loving together, we two
I’ll admit, I’ve become quite attached to you
As I care so much, I surely do
Enough to want to grow old with you!
How tempting it is, in your situation
To protect yourself and avoid confrontation
Seems easy to just give up and stop caring
‘Cause life at this point is painful and wearing.
My petition to God, lest you secede
Is that He would meet you at your point of need.
Dave, look at your life, and note how God blessed you
There are so many things we both can attest to —
For He loved you enough to call you His own
He’ll never forsake you or leave you alone.
Two wonderful daughters, quite a gift from above
To raise and to nurture, encourage and love.
And yes, your vocation; this, too, is a blessing
Even with all of the worries and stressing
He’s given gifts and abilities, talents to use
To assist and help others in the way that you choose.
Though you look at yourself and don’t feel you succeed
I’m praying God would meet each heartfelt need!
Though at times things are hard, and you may feel like screaming
To Jesus your life has much purpose and meaning.
And though amidst growing physical ailments
Christ is the answer to ALL life’s derailments.
For you are His son and His image bearer
Through high times, and times when you wish life were fair-er.
There are so many things that we cannot control
We must leave them to God, who cares for your soul
How to help at this time, I am at a loss
Yet my prayer for you as I go to the cross
Is for God to take your hand and lead
In order to meet you at your point of need.
Now take care of yourself, be all you can be
If you can’t do it for you, then do it for me
Because I care deeply and long to be part
Of the life and times of you, David Art
For it’s out of concern, and not out of greed
That I ask God to meet you at your point of need.
