Sacred Ground

Ever stood on sacred ground?
I know where some can be found.
Far away and long ago
My Jesus was the One to go
For He was judged at Gabbatha
And crucified on Golgatha
There they nailed Christ to a cross
There He hung and bled for us.

What were the nails that it would take
To hang Him there upon that stake?
They were “unseen,” the nails that held
Him to the cross, His body swelled.
‘Twas His great love and loyalty
A selfless love for you and me.
He wearily climbed that sacred hill.
Committed to His Father’s will

It was for our sin and iniquity
Wounded and bruised, despised was He
Even His Father turned to go
When Christ bore all our sin and woe.
Until He “It is finished” cried
Then sadly bowed His head and died.
The cover of darkness was like a sheet
His sacred hill mission was complete.
