Sanctuary

When you find a place of refuge, says the dictionary
Then you have found a special place known as “sanctuary.”
A loving couple make this “home: — they are Fred and JoAnn
Their interest is to show God’s love, and guide folks in His plan.

May all who have the privilege to spend time in this home
Be sure to read and learn the things I’ve written in this poem.
A warning is appropriate to take from one who knows
Watch out! This place could change you, right down to your toes!

Sometimes, when we visit here, we laugh and love and play,
At other times with hurting hearts the thing to do is pray.
They have a way of showing love, and that they really care
For all who come with sorrows deep, your burdens they will share.

But if you’re feeling pity, or sorry for yourself
You should place the pride that drives you, back on the ego-shelf!
To come here in this state of mind, you’re taking quite a chance
‘Cause you’re inviting trouble or a good, swift “kick in the pants.”

So don’t bother bringing selfish, frivolous excuses
This is a place for healing legitimate abuses
When you need a place of refuge though it may seem ordinary
To find this place and these dear folks, you’ve found sanctuary!
