My heart ‘tis glad. Yea, it surely overflows
With each blessing He so lovingly bestows
I felt His love so great and rich and free
The day I knew He shed His blood for me.
I saw my sins beside the Savior’s face,
I was ashamed, they looked so out-of-place
I felt so helpless, lost, and very small
But yet I knew with love He bore it all
That day my heart cried out in inward pain
Lord, please forgive. Erase my sin and shame!
And now all turmoil, strife, and unrest cease
For Jesus gave to me His blessed peace!
Since that day my life has been a dream
The love of God fills each day so serene
Each day anew, more love does He bestow
With this love my heart does overflow.
Trials are conquered with help from God above
Each brings me closer to the Lord I love!
