Longing

It’s been six long months, and I’m getting so tired
That I want to call your boss and see that you get fired

I’ve been going along and growing quite weary
Now a job comes up and, you’re less than cheery

Your presence is so needed, in this family of four
If this must go on much longer, I don’t want to anymore!

For I need you Mr. Art, a big secret it is not
I’d like to come and get you, and move you to this spot

With God’s help we’ve managed, just the girls and I
But frustrations and deep longings, usually make me cry

You’re working on the budget, a necessary chore
You’ll itemize each object from the ceiling to the floor.

Dave, please remember I’ve no use for fancy, frilly fare
I’d live in a sagging cow-barn; just as long you were there

So tell your boss you’re out of there, and Colorado bound–
Pack your car and hit the road, you’ll cover lots of ground.

Leave behind the smog and crime, driving all the day
East and somewhat north, the map will show the way!

And when you pull into the drive, we’ll shout “Hip-hurray!”
‘Cause Daddy, Father, Husband, Helpmate, is finally here to stay!!
