Intercession

It’s me again, Jesus, on behalf of my friend
The one you sent into my life.
She’s struggling so, Jesus, with her past and the guilt
She’s feeling much anger and strife
Toward those who have done her wrong
And feels that she cannot forgive.

Now the world says be angry. It encourages hate.
We try to forget but it won’t go away
It’s hard to forgive the wrongs that were done
So this plague on our lives seems to be there to stay.

Yet I know, dear Father, for I’ve been there, you see
And You showed me some things and then set me free.
From the anger and hate. Yes, pride was there, too.
But You loved me much Jesus and carried me through.

How I wish I could help her, take the junk all away
Only she can surrender, but I can sure pray!

Sweet Jesus, Your love is beyond human measure
Your caring is rich! Truly our greatest treasure.
Wrap Your arms around my friend. Ever gentle, yet firm
Remind her You love her with deepest concern.
Tell her that You know all that she’s been through.
That it’s time to let go and surrender to you
And finally lay this to rest
Then You’ll take it from her, for You know what’s best.

Hold her tight, Jesus and don’t let her go
When she’s willing to trust You, then she will let go.
Of all her own feelings. Give her strength to pray through
And transfer the vengeance over to You!

Many strong feelings in my friend’s heart right now
You alone Father can take them somehow
And gladly replace them with Your peace and love
And grant to her victory that comes from above!
