An Attainable Goal?

We read in Proverbs thirty-one
Of a woman who seemed to get everything done
On time, no less, for it doesn’t say
That she was running late that day.

It seems no matter how much I run,
Or how hard I work, I can’t get it all done.
For often I feel that I’m going so fast,
My energy just isn’t going to last.

So, back to our woman, at any rate
She gets up early, and goes to bed late.
Don’t be offended, by this next thing I say;
If she’s human, she can’t do that every day!

I know for myself, when I rise up early,
In order to keep from getting real squirrelly;
It’s back in the sack by nine forty-five,
If tomorrow’s a day that I wish to survive!

The Book says she goes out to purchase a field,
And sells it to bring a suitable yield.
Now women have jobs to help make ends meet;
But it’s time spent at home, you really can’t beat.

Her time in the kitchen is fruitful as well.
Quite frankly, my gifts, I dare to tell
Are not in cooking or making things grow,
For I like to read, write lyrics, or sew.

In this world today, where THINGS are gainable,
Is this woman’s life a goal attainable?
If we do all these things and still remain rested;
Will our families arise and call us blessed?

Just what is God’s plan through this Proverbs example?
Perhaps just to give us a bit of a sample
Of what we, as women, can do with our lives,
As we lean on his strength for needs that arise.

We all have our share of things we do well,
Some cooking, some sewing, some stories do tell.
Sometimes it takes talent; other times, nerve.
But we can be a blessing to those that we serve.

If we focus on serving and doing His will;
Listening to Jesus, as we learn to be still.
Then He’ll show us – yes, each of us, separately.
That His will is to be all He meant US to be!
