A Special Little Girl

I know the sweetest little girl,
Her eyes are brown, her hair is curled.
She loves to read and when I look,
I find her with another book.

Every day she goes to school,
And there she follows every rule.
To learn, and play, and laugh, and sing,
For she can do most anything.

Sometimes she pouts and is so sad,
Then she gets cheered up by her dad.
The cutest smile you’ve ever seen,
Reminds me of a bright sunbeam.

She has a best friend, Marianne,
Together they play, pretend, and plan.
She’s becoming fast friends with her older sister,
Exactly what this “mother heart” wished for.

How I love her, she’s so special to me,
Such fun to hug – just who could it be?
She’s a joy in my life – a special source,
Oh yes, you guessed! It’s Melissa, of course!
