Fun at Work

‘Twas the week before Christmas when all thru S.A.
Not a creature was stirring, they were all gone away
Some on vacations and others were moving
The rest were all snug under desks and were snoozing!
When from Judy’s desk there arose a mild clatter
And no one got up to see what was the matter
But from all the evidence that we put together
The story, I’m sure, could not be told better.

It appears that a mouse, a strong one indeed
Was out for a walk when she sensed a deep need.
The need was for sugar, you guessed it right quick
If she didn’t find some, she would surely be sick!
Then what to her wandering eyes did appear
But a jar full of goodies, which sat there so near.
Oh, what rare excitement, as she ran for the loot
The lid, it was loose, what a blessing, to boot!

So, she scrambled and pawed and with one healthy whack
Knocked the jar down, then gave thanks for her snack.
Every gobble and munch, every drool, every crunch
It’s been quite some time, since so fine a lunch!
Then feeling quite happy and rubbing her belly
(Her tummy, it shook like, a bowl full of jellies!)
She looked all around and soon found a nice place
Where she settled right down for a nap in this space!

I know you’re all wondering, is this really true?
Could this all have happened, though nobody knew?
Could this creature have foiled our security guards?
Or spent any time hiding behind playing cards?
Well, judge for yourself, though no one really knew
And I may have embellished a detail or two.
But the evidence stands, that the treat-jar is empty
And no one in S.A. has a much-improved memory!
