Worship His Majesty

So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus
Magnify, come glorify, Christ Jesus the King.
Majesty, worship His Majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified,
King of all kings.

This song resonates as an anthem of praise to our Father-God. It makes me think of full choir with orchestra and a majestic flow. I think many voices raised in worship with bowed knees and grateful hearts before His throne. I think celestial, holy with adoration. I think reverence and awe! I think of the words in Revelation 21 of the city sparkling with precious stone, like jasper and clear as crystal, illumined by the glory of God Almighty!

I also think of a story I heard about a march that was held in our Nation’s capitol some years ago. As the events of the day came to a close, masses of attendees were streaming down into the subway, when some began to sing this song, Majesty. As more and more voices joined in, the acoustics added to the flavor of the experience by echoing the music through the underground. In my mind, I could hear the music, I could see the worshipers, and I could picture the day when believers will be approaching the throne of the Lamb with worship and adoration! Oh, what a moment that will be! Indeed, this is the hope of believers everywhere!

I am blessed by the history of this song which was written by Pastor Jack Hayford. He tells of a vacation taken with his wife, Anna, to Great Britain. The year was 1977, and symbols of royalty were in abundance for it was the year of the 25th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.

Jack said he began to sense the influence one might feel if raised in such regal settings and speaks of how a powerful sense of the royalty, dignity and majesty of Christ Jesus filled his own heart as he began to feel a new experience of what it meant to belong to Him, the King of all kings! It was here that the beginnings of this song came to his mind.

In the author’s own words, “Majesty describes the kingly, lordly, glorious, regal nature of our Savior. It reminds us that our worship can align us with God and His throne and His kingdom. For we are rescued from death, restored to the inheritance of sons and daughters, qualified for victory in battle against the adversary, and destined for the throne forever in His presence.”

This is joy unspeakable for “… the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and His servants will worship Him.” Revelation 22:4

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. When He has cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in Heaven.” Hebrews 1:3

Majesty
(by Jack Hayford – 1981)

Majesty, worship His Majesty!
Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise.
Majesty, Kingdom authority,
Flows from His throne, unto His own,
His anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify, Christ Jesus the King.
Majesty, worship His Majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified,
King of all kings.
