Temptations

God does not tempt His own with evil
Nor should we go and blame the devil
We are tempted when we are drawn away
With lust and enticed and begin to sway
When lust conceives, it brings forth sin
No longer will we be pure within
And sin when finished, brings forth death
No comfort found in our last breath
Instead we’re empty and troubled inside
For it was only once Christ died.

Today I’m faced with a temptation
And I through prayer and supplication
Must turn to God, the Lord of love
That I would not be guilty of
Yielding myself, for that is sin
And turmoil would result within
He promised that there will be none
So big that I can’t overcome
The way of escape now I must seek
I’m glad He’s strong when I am weak.
