I watched the sun rise at break of day
And felt an urgent need to pray
To praise God for His handiwork
And pray that I would never shirk
From the tasks He’s given me
That all might to His glory be.
As the ball of fire raised Heavenward
Again I sought my precious Lord
We spoke of souls that I know well
And are on their way to hell
“Father I plead with You today
Give them a chance to change their way.”
And as the sun shone high above
I praised Him for His endless love
The joy and peace He’s given me
“Oh Savior that the world would see
Contentment glowing on my face
Result of Your amazing grace.”
Then when the sun began to set
Some things remained to be done yet
I took the time to praise the Lord
To read and think upon His Word
How very richly He does bless
And fill this time with happiness.
The sun soon disappeared from sight
The sky was filled with colors bright
I sang with joy and love for Him
Who cleansed my heart, forgave my sin
He promised much to all those who
Would to His promises be true.
And then by God’s Almighty hand
Darkness covered all the land
Another day is over now
With hands upraised, my head I bow
“All praise dear Lord, belongs to You
For this day which You’ve seen me through.”
